The Art of Celebration

At a leadership conference years ago, I heard a speaker note the significance of celebration. Her point centered on how, in this culture, we focus on programs, on efficiency, on moving through the steps. And that in our quest for efficiency, we too rapidly move onto the next “project”, failing to take time to breathe and celebrate

This weekend was filled with a lot of celebration!

It started with a beautiful wedding for Ally and Mike.

From there the weekend moved onto a Sunday service, one that hopefully celebrated God’s enduring touch, a touch that holds us deeply in both “enough” and “belonging.”

After our weekly service, we closed with a celebration down at the shore as we blessed a congregant’s new shore property! Joined by friends in-person and online, it was a beautiful gathering.

I cherish these kinds of celebrations. A home blessing circles around a very simple premise, one thousands of years old … “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” I offered a few short words to that effect. The most significant part of it all came when we then gathered in a circle, each in turn offering a blessing on the home. To hear the 4 new owners speak as well as their friends was a truly sacred moment, one closed with a shared prayer.

There are many more “efficient” ways to spend a Sunday. But none better!

On Sunday June 6th we are planning a service called “Blancing it all: A Look back and a Look Forward.”
Our hope with this service is to to reflect on this past season of COVID and all the experiences we were forced as a global community to navigate – the blessed and the broken.

As is the case with everything we do here at NewChurch LIVE we want to hear your voice and your experience reflected in this special service. Join our online planning team Wednesday, May 26th, 7:00 PM on Zoom. All are welcome.

Wednesday May 26th, 7:00PM

Our fiscal year runs July 1st -June 30th. We are supported by the generosity of this wonderful congregation.

Help us continue to offer rich meaningful services streamed to your homes every Sunday. Help us to continue to support our local community through service projects and outreach. Help us support connections formed through small groups, morning chapel services and music every week.

We are so blessed to have so many people who support us. It’s not about the size of the gift, it’s through many donations, many individuals, many families stepping up and supporting us that we will reach our goal.
