Tell Me the Story of Your Last Drink

1st, August 2025

Description

Every one of us carries stories. Some broken, some beautiful, some still being rewritten. This morning, I reflect on a powerful question: “Tell me the story of your last drink.” Not necessarily alcohol, but that moment…the breaking point, the bottom. Where something within said, “This just doesn’t work anymore.” That’s where redemption begins. From a shattered glass table in my grandfather’s breakfast nook to the tender promise of Divine Providence, faith doesn’t erase suffering but gently bends it toward good. Swedenborg reminds us that God constantly turns even our darkest moments toward heaven’s light (Divine Providence §178). It’s the miracle of faith: we’re invited to live into redemptive stories, not contagion ones. Stories that hold suffering yet breathe transformation. And in those, we become more of who we were created to be.
