Nothing Fails Like Success
15th, January 2026Description
One of the challenging insights around life that sometimes sneaks up on us quietly is that “Nothing fails like success.” I watch how good habits can snowball into real blessing, yet I also see how success creates formulas, patterns we cling to long after the season that required them has passed. We fix problems and miss the pattern underneath. We work and work because at one time – that worked. We confront because once it protected. Over time, what helped begins to isolate. In the spiritual life, the Lord keeps inviting us forward, never letting us camp too long inside yesterday’s wisdom. Swedenborg reminds us that regeneration unfolds by degrees, as our loves are gently reordered and our understanding expands to meet new states of life. That is why Jesus keeps breaking paradigms, questioning binaries, poking at certainty, whether with Samaritans or Pharisees. I invite you to notice where friction shows up today. Look at your reactions. Ask whether they serve the better angels of your nature. The Lord is always saying, this worked then, let me show you what works now.
