Are We Here to Teach or to Learn?

This morning I sit with you in ten quiet minutes of calm and invite a gentle shift of focus. Life keeps tempting our egos to believe we are here to teach other people a lesson, yet the deeper spiritual work asks something humbler and far more demanding. We are here to learn. Traffic, arguments, and daily anxieties still happen, but they do not deserve our core. When faith turns into instruction aimed at others, it hardens. When faith becomes shared learning, it opens. I speak honestly about seasons where there may be no lesson at all, only endurance, and about how the lessons we do learn shape us for heaven itself. Again and again I return to a simple, disarming question that has guided my own life and ministry: “What’s the lesson you feel like you’re learning right now?” From meditation to prayer, from Scripture to lived experience, this reflection invites us into clarity, humility, and a shared journey of learning together.
