Hearts Strangely Warmed

Today let’s reflect on those quiet, sacred moments when we feel our hearts strangely warmed. Like the travelers on the road to Emmaus, we don’t always see the Lord walking with us…but then, suddenly, something shifts. A conversation, a gathering, a simple act of kindness and our hearts respond. That’s how God works: silently, gently, with divine precision. Swedenborg writes that a desire for goodness is introduced into us “along an inner path without our slightest awareness” (Secrets of Heaven 2875), and I believe those are the moments when we catch a glimpse of the God of surprises. Whether it’s sharing time with a small group or sitting quietly in prayer, these warm stirrings in the heart are more than emotions – they are proof of God’s presence. So we listen, we pay attention, and we allow our hearts to be warmed again.
