We Must Do Better

Friends, when I look at the devastating news about Charlie Kirk, I feel the weight of our shared responsibility. No political side is exempt. We need to do better in every conversation, every choice, every act of kindness. Swedenborg reminds us in Secrets of Heaven 2913 that a church, a nation, even a community, finds unity when charity is placed at the center. Charity means loving kindness and service, not agreement on every doctrine or platform. That is where God’s truth lives. Jesus himself, surrounded by people who disagreed with him, stood firm and said, “Stop.” Stop the cycle of vengeance, anger, and violence. We can stand on different sides and still remain on the same side when the center is love. That is our calling today.
