Freed from Distortions

Description

I greet you this morning with a simple practice of humility that opens the door to joy: I learn to see the connection, appreciation of all things in all people, and I ask the Lord to help me see myself completely freed from all distortions, the good and the bad, so I can step out of the judgment seat and into grace. As Secrets of Heaven puts it, “the cloud of ignorance breaks up only gradually… goodness is perfected as we absorb knowledge of that truth… [and] God is the one who reforms us.” I love that. It means this lifelong work has a gentle pace, and on the other side of that cloud we find our real selves: always blessed, always broken, goofy and wonderful, saying the wrong thing and the right thing, learning to laugh because no flaw is fatal and your worst day is not your only day. When the fog lifts, we take ourselves less seriously, we hold others more tenderly, and we taste the quiet joy that comes with seeing clearly.
