A New Kind of New Year’s Resolution
30th, December 2025Description
As we stand at the edge of a new year, I invite you into a gentler kind of resolution. One rooted in New Church theology and deep hope. Swedenborg reminds us that within every person lives an inmost core already connected to heaven, a heart of gold that never disappears. Even when life goes sideways. So instead of piling on self-improvement goals, I ask a quieter question. What would happen if you chose one person and simply dropped it? The history. The judgments. The anger. All of it. Drawing from Secrets of Heaven, we remember that we are not meant to fixate on “wrongs, blunders, and downfalls,” whether our own or someone else’s. When we release what weighs us down, the good becomes the default again. This is repentance in its truest form. A clearing away that allows love to flow back in. Using a simple spiritual toolbox and honest reflection, we explore forgiveness that renews the soul even when relationships remain unchanged. This is addition by subtraction. A way to enter the new year lighter, freer, and more open to becoming what heaven already sees in you. An angel in training.
