The Wisdom of Discernment
18th, March 2026Description
Discernment lives in the tension, and I come back to this simple truth: “the truth is always the form that love takes.” Some moments call for clarity that cuts through the noise. Stop. Enough. Draw a line because healing depends on it. Other moments ask us to slow down and see more. We begin to notice the story underneath, the struggle, the humanity we might have missed. Swedenborg teaches that truth must join with goodness to become wisdom, and that union lives right here. Wisdom moves. It knows when to stand firm and when to soften. It knows when to speak plainly and when to listen longer. Jesus tells us, “Know the truth and the truth shall set you free,” and that freedom grows as we learn to hold both clarity and compassion together. So step into your day and ask where you are called to be clear, and where you are called to be compassionate, trusting that real discernment is the quiet art of holding both in love.
