I Have Been Hurt. Is Revenge a Sin?

19th, March 2026

Description

In today’s reflection, I take up a question we all quietly carry. Is vengeance ever okay? We begin with honesty. Yes, we’ve all been hurt. From there, I turn to Secrets of Heaven 3060, where we see a deeper pattern. Truth and fact do not stand alone. “Truth that holds goodness is a well-filled container,” and love binds it all together into spiritual union.

However, when we cling to revenge, even in subtle ways like “I hope they get theirs,” something shifts. We step outside that order. Instead, we tie our healing to someone else’s outcome, and that keeps the wound alive. For example, even in extreme situations, we have to ask, does punishment truly restore what was lost? Pretty questionable there, friends.

So, I invite us into something stronger. Self-respect rooted in love. We can still ask for accountability. In fact, accountability and consequences can sometimes be the most loving thing. Yet vengeance pulls us into a cycle that offers nothing for the soul. Jesus shows this clearly. He stops short of the line “Vengeance is mine,” and in that moment, reveals a higher way. Therefore, this week, loosen your grip on that inner drama. Let it go. There’s nothing there for you spiritually. Instead, let goodness hold the facts, and let love be the container. From that place, healing begins.
