How Do Angels Fight?
16th, April 2026Description
In today’s reflection, I invite you into a question that feels both ancient and urgently present: how do angels fight? From a Swedenborgian perspective, the answer is quieter than we expect and far more powerful. “Angels fight through presence,” a presence so aligned that “there’s complete integrity between words and actions,” and in that alignment, evil is restrained, clarity breaks through, and the whole atmosphere shifts . You have seen it. Someone enters a tense room, speaks from love, and suddenly everything changes. This is spiritual combat without spectacle. And when good people disagree, angels do something just as remarkable. They “fight…in the round,” gathering perspectives from every direction, refusing to shame, choosing instead a fuller wisdom shaped by both love and understanding . Swedenborg teaches that heaven itself is ordered this way, with love at the center and wisdom arranged around it, each voice contributing to a greater whole. So the call is simple, though never easy. Bring your presence. Bring your integrity. And when you stand among differing views, practice inclusion, trusting that the Lord leads us, slowly and faithfully, toward what is most loving.
