Prayer for Openness Over Answers

We all want answers. We all know that ache. Lord, please fix this. Please show me the way. Yet today I keep coming back to a deeper kind of prayer, a prayer for openness, where we stop trying to manage God and begin to let God open our heart. In Swedenborgian language, this is how love and wisdom flow in, gently, as we learn to “see from the inside out.” Prayer may move the mountains in our mind, especially that old bondage of self, and it can also send grace into the world like quiet light. Softness. Gentleness. Love. When we pray for someone who is hurting, we are holding other people in the light. And somehow, in that holy openness, God gives us the wisdom of tenderness.
