A Burden or a Gift?

“How do we die well?” It is a tender question, and one I invite us to hold as we consider life’s unfinished symphony. We all leave some music unwritten. In our Swedenborgian faith, life continues beyond death, and that promise offers comfort as we approach the end of our earthly journey. Needing care is understandable. So are the tears, frustration, and difficult days. Within that struggle, we can still offer something precious: gratitude for the life we receive and love for those who walk beside us. It wasn’t perfect, but it sure was good. As we gently loosen our grip on resentment and turn toward thankfulness, we open ourselves to becoming a spiritual gift to our loved ones. This practice begins today. Whatever remains unfinished, I invite us to consider the legacy we carry forward and the gratitude we leave in another person’s heart.
