An Equation for “The Good Life”
2nd, April 2025Description
Let’s explore what it really means to live “the good life”—not through wealth or ease, but through the spiritual pairing of opportunity and accountability. Drawing from the story of Lot and the teachings of Emanuel Swedenborg, we look at how Divine Providence flows constantly in one direction, gently leading us out of broken patterns—our personal Sodom and Gomorrah—and toward deeper love and purpose. As Swedenborg writes, “charity is absolutely everything good” (Secrets of Heaven §8033), and our neighbor is the good in others that touches our hearts. So today we’re called to notice the opportunities God places before us and be lovingly accountable for stepping into them. This is how the soul grows: by seeing the good, honoring it, and choosing to act from it.
