Blueprints or a Yearning

Description

I am struck by the wisdom in this simple line: “If you want to teach someone to build a ship, don’t give them blueprints, give them a yearning for the sea.” Blueprints matter, of course, yet God also places a yearning in our hearts, a desire to connect, to understand, and to see beyond the patterns that can keep us mired in the concerns of the day. Travel often opens that space for me. It draws me away from routine, social media, and politics, then returns me to the beauty of human relationships and a larger view of life. Swedenborg teaches that heaven takes shape through lives joined in love and use, so every real encounter can become part of the Lord’s work of bringing us closer together. There are beautiful places to see and beautiful people to know.
