Choose Love. Choose Challenge.

This morning brings a vulnerable truth: to choose love is to choose challenge. That’s not because God tests us, but because love draws fire from hell. It’s what evil spirits target, as Swedenborg reminds us in Secrets of Heaven §2819. Our trials often swirl around what we hold most dear, and that’s why heartbreak can feel so consuming. But there’s hope hidden there. The pain points us (like a golden finger) toward what we truly value. Challenges, far from being roadblocks, can be the contours of the very path home. Providence doesn’t place obstacles in our way to trip us up, but it does work through every storm to strengthen the love we’re called to live from. Even when days feel dark, or relationships falter, we are not adrift. We’re in the process. And that process, held gently in God’s hands, is life itself.
