Illuminator or Diminisher
10th, September 2025Description
Every day offers us a quiet but profound decision: will we shine as illuminators, or cast shadows as diminishers? I choose to be an illuminator. I keep hearing the Lord’s tender call, “Don’t put a light under a bushel,” because the world needs light that heals instead of heat that divides. New Church theology says it simply and powerfully that the church would be unified if we all had charity even with different ways of worshiping and thinking. So I keep love central. I practice curiosity about how others see the world, curiosity about their belief systems, and especially curiosity about what I can learn from them. When we do that, we celebrate the light as God has given them to see it. Heaven flourishes through variety held together by love, and so can we. Be still. Breathe. Choose the world where love leads and differences become gifts on the way to heaven.
