Is Hope Possible?

Is hope possible? Absolutely. But not in the way the world often defines it. Hope, in its truest sense, is a posture we take. A way of looking at the world through the lens of love stretched into the future. Today I’m reminded, as I share some small but meaningful encounters, that hope begins not in sweeping gestures but in the tiniest acts of kindness. A jump-started car. A knock on a neighbor’s door. When we live from this grounded stance, God frames our vision with light. In Secrets of Heaven 2831, Swedenborg teaches that our minds naturally form inner pictures, and when those are filled with spiritual good and truth, they become vessels for Divine influence. Through hope, we reshape our inner landscape. And from there, everything changes. If we anchor ourselves in these small, deliberate choices to love, to serve, to notice…we’ll find hope not as a distant dream but as a present reality. As I see it, it’s not that the darkness disappears, but rather, the light becomes undeniable.
