Letting Go of Winning

Description

When I invite us to take winning off the table, I am asking us to breathe again and step into what Swedenborg calls “the image and likeness of divine order,” the place where “the Lord arranges our capacities in spiritual and heavenly order” and fills us with goodness. I watch how fast life turns into a zero-sum contest and I feel the strain it creates in families and friendships. Something softens when we shift our focus to relationship. Listening changes everything. A single question can open a heart. Martin Luther King’s reminder echoes through the morning. “We must remember our goal is reconciliation, not victory.” I hear that and think of God as a giver whose order carries freedom, connection, and the quiet courage to seek understanding first. When we practice that, even in a few precious relationships, something holy slips in and realigns us.
