Make Space for One More

19th, December 2025

Description

As Christmas draws close, I find myself returning to a simple invitation that holds enormous spiritual weight: make space for one more. I remember a Christmas Eve when the house was quiet, my kids were away, and loneliness sat heavy, until friends reached out and welcomed me in, a moment so vivid I still remember where I sat and what we shared. That is what happens when space opens. Christmas already gathers our families and our familiar circles, and that is good, but the deeper call is to notice the one who feels just outside the warmth and ask if there is room. In this season, the gift, the giver, and the receiver somehow become one, a mystery that feels real when heaven touches earth. Swedenborg writes that “the ultimate form of a divine pattern is in us,” reminding us that we are created to reflect divine love in action. Christmas makes that visible. God comes to us as a child, walks with us, and leaves us a living model for how to love forward. When we slow down, breathe, and choose connection, even in small ways, Christmas becomes tangible. It becomes lived. It becomes real.
