More than Literalism

It is easy to approach the Bible through a literal lens, a lens that holds everything in it as literally true. That approach rapidly fails because some parts of obviously not true, for example a command that children who disrespect parents should be stoned to death.

We have to be informed by more than just the words on the page. The words have to meet with what we know from our heart. There is great significance in wrestling with faith and viewing the Bible as a guide towards true north. There should be room for space for growth and debate in our spiritual journeys.
