This morning, I invite you to consider what you’re carrying, and how it might be shaping your view of life. Using the image of a backpack, we reflect together on the emotional burdens we accumulate. Guilt, shame, loss…and how they can distort the path ahead, much like how a heavy load can make a hill look steeper than it truly is. These challenges are real, and so are the scars they leave. But there’s hope. As Swedenborg beautifully reminds us, “The actual platform on which God’s light can operate is religious goodness or love for others” (Secrets of Heaven §9050). So rather than trying to “just let go,” we can build a new foundation. A base camp of love that gives us the strength to keep climbing.
