The Graves Opened

Morning friends. I’m walking with you among the stones today, because graveyards speak, and I hear hope. I remember Matthew’s line, “the graves opened,” and I feel the hush that follows. I look at those dates and the little dash and I pray, because “burial symbolizes resurrection, and every particular resurrection (Secrets of Heaven 2916)”, a truth that softens the heart and steadies the step. I see hands carved across a wall, a Catholic husband and a Protestant wife reaching through old rules, and I think of reunions that rise beyond sight. We build it out as we picture heaven, then we build it back in as practice, here, now. Heaven is less a far place and more a lived love. Life goes on. This life is precious. Next life is precious. So we weave them together. We visit, we remember, we bless, and we let God open a portal of courage where fear once stood, until the film lifts from the eyes and peace finds us.
