Two Small Tools That Help with Connection
7th, March 2025Description
We all long to be truly seen—to be recognized for who we are and the journey we’re on. Yet sometimes, we struggle to see others clearly. Swedenborg describes two kinds of spiritual blindness: willful blindness, when we avoid difficult truths, and ignorant blindness, when we simply don’t know what we don’t know. The good news is that the Lord continually seeks to open our eyes, helping us move toward greater love and connection (Secrets of Heaven §3863). Two small but powerful tools can help: first, replacing statements with questions to foster understanding, and second, asking open-ended questions where we don’t assume the answer. By doing this, we practice true spiritual sight—seeing others with humility, curiosity, and love, just as God sees us.
