What Can Love Conjure Up Tomorrow?

Fear has a way of shrinking our world, pulling us into worry and worst-case scenarios, while love does just the opposite—it expands, opens, and creates possibility. I’ve found that the future we imagine is deeply shaped by whether we’re living from fear or from love. Swedenborg reminds us that fear can play a role, but it’s not meant to guide our lives: “Fear goes to the worst possible future… but love asks the question: What could tomorrow be?” (Secrets of Heaven §2395). Love is what truly conjures up tomorrow—not a passive love, but one that takes action, asks the hard questions, and builds real connection. My hope is that we can keep leaning toward love, knowing that’s where God is always leading us.
