Who Does God Love? And what the answer means….
10th, March 2026Description
Who does God love? “… the entire human race.” And what does that answer mean? “People who share in universal love have the Lord’s life in them.” (Secrets of Heaven 3063)
God’s love is not just a love we observe. It is a love we share. God is divine love itself, and “nothing but love is alive.” That realization changes how we practice faith. It moves us away from the idea that a few people have the key while everyone else stands outside. Instead we are “all walking each other home,” sharing what we love about our faith the way we might share a favorite recipe or restaurant. Swedenborg writes that “people who share in this universal love have the Lord’s life in them,” which means this love is not something we simply admire from a distance. We are meant to live it. Imperfectly, yes. Clumsily at times. Yet still sincerely. We worship the God of love revealed in Jesus, “God with skin on,” showing us how to live from goodwill, wish the best for others, and reach toward every person with the widest love we can practice.
