Catch the Moment by the Toe

Here’s what’s on my heart this weekend: “This is the day that the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it,” and rejoice can mean thrive, so I invite you to watch for those fleeting gifts you can “catch…by the toe” before they race past. Breathe… “God, thy will be done” and let the ego step aside so the Lord’s love finds legs in us and walks out into the world. We are finite forms of God’s love made for use and service, created to give what we’ve been freely given. Be still. Feel it in your heart. A dinner that can’t be repeated. A quiet prayer. A minute or an hour where you thrive and taste heaven. “This little taste of heaven.” In Swedenborg’s language, love is our very life, God is Love itself and Wisdom itself, and heaven’s joy springs from doing uses for others. Today I choose that path and ask you to join me: look, notice, breathe, serve, and thrive. “Thy will be done.”
