Snow Day Spiritual Practice
23rd, January 2026Description
On a snow day that stirs both childlike joy and quiet unease, I pause with you for a few minutes of grounding calm. We live in tumultuous times. That much feels obvious. Anxiety, anger, cynicism swirl everywhere, and peace feels elusive. So I return to something simple, almost disarmingly so. “Be committed to keeping your word.” In a world we cannot control, this anchors us. Swedenborg names why this matters. When bodily agitation settles, even a little, “the Lord works through our inner self and we then come into faith and charity” (Secrets of Heaven 933). Snow slows us down. Silence opens space. We still speak truth when called. We still act when conscience demands it. But we do not live in agitation. We live from a quieter place where God and peace are found. Keep your word this weekend. Say yes with care. Say no with honesty. Let simple truths build something steady beneath your feet.
