Where Does Faith Grow From?

7th, May 2026

Description

I used to think faith begins with belief, with agreeing to the right ideas and carrying the right list of doctrines. Yet Swedenborg keeps pulling me back to something deeper: faith grows from love. In Secrets of Heaven, we hear that “Faith is never possible except where there is charity,” and that “truth is nothing but the form of goodness.”

That changes everything. Faith is not a weapon for deciding who is in and who is out. Instead, it is trust born from love, a living confidence that goodness has the last word. So today I ask a simpler, harder question: when I am really thinking from love, what kind of faith starts to form in me?

Maybe it looks like kindness. Perhaps it sounds like patience. It may begin in the quiet prayer, “Be still and know that I am God.” And as I practice coming from love as best I can, even messily, I find a little more peace, a little more inspiration, and a faith that feels alive.
