Dont Go Bowling Alone

Friends, I believe we are made for community. We were not made to bowl alone. Jesus gathered twelve disciples, showing us that even God with skin on chooses life with others. Swedenborg writes in Secrets of Heaven 137 that God’s love in our world is “thoughtfulness towards one’s neighbor,” and that simple, outward-looking practice draws us into the kind of community where heaven begins to take shape. We all know “the long loneliness,” especially in a culture so easily consumed by politics, economics, and online distraction. So I invite us to make room this week for a conversation, a small group, a shared meal, or an act of service. Please do not feel guilted into it. Just remember this: don’t go bowling alone. Find a way to build community, because the beloved community is where we experience God’s life among us.
