God Always Preserves the Loving Part
13th, August 2025Description
In today’s message, I reflect on the deeper meaning behind the story of Sodom and Gomorrah as a metaphor for inner transformation. Swedenborg teaches that these cities represent parts of ourselves consumed by falsity and evil, often cloaked in religious appearances (see Secrets of Heaven §2322). And yet, within that corruption, God preserves what is still good. Lot symbolizes that remnant. A simple, loving part of us that, though sometimes naive, can be rescued and carried forward into healing. I invite us to sit with this truth: God is always preserving the loving part. Always. Even in others we may judge too quickly, there is something worth saving. We’re reminded that no one is purely good or evil. We are all a mix, and regeneration begins when we choose to see the good, support it, and let the rest fall away.
