How To Stop Obsessive Thoughts
3rd, May 2022Description
Today I’m inviting us to look gently at the inner tangle of obsessive thought and instead of judging it…reframe it. In the creation story of Genesis 2, three rivers flow through Eden, and Swedenborg teaches that they represent love, knowledge, and reason in sequence. Love comes first. And when love leads, it guides knowledge to pick out what heals, instead of what harms. Then reason follows, no longer frantic but at peace. That’s the “wise framing” we talked about—a softer way of seeing. Because as Swedenborg writes, “truth is the form of love” (Divine Love and Wisdom §11), and when truth is shaped by love, our thoughts begin to bless rather than burden. I share my own struggles with overthinking, and together we breathe, pray, and remember: what would love see here?
