Let Gods Love Flow Through You

After the flood, God promises Noah that life can begin again. I hear that promise in the floods we face, too: It’s not that the floods end. It’s just we stop getting flooded in the same way. Swedenborg calls the opening God creates in us a new will. When my ego wants to hold tight to what I have, that new will makes room for God’s goodness to flow through me. In the New Church, we call this living “as of self”: I get to receive God’s gifts and share them as if they were my own, while remembering where they come from. I think of a husband caring tenderly for his wife with Alzheimer’s. He says, “God has loved us so unconditionally that I too can love my wife that way.” That is the invitation today. Breathe. Let that love flow.
