Peace Has Confidence in God

When anxiety starts looking for its next assignment, I remember this beautiful New Church teaching: “peace has confidence in the Lord.” I may not see the whole path, and the good end may take longer than I want, yet I can breathe because God has it. Swedenborgian spirituality holds that the Lord is continually leading us toward a good end, drawing us home through every detour, uncertainty, and hard season. So when my mind starts rehearsing the ten things that need to be done, I can offer that anxious need for control to the Lord and return to the deeper truth: “In the end, life is good.” Be still. Let the peace that passes all understanding bring you home.
