Christmas I: Light One Candle
Too Much Urgency
5th, December 2025Description
As I sit with this theme of urgency, I feel how easily it swells up around us and crowds the quiet places where the Lord tries to speak. Life can tilt toward the frantic in a breath, yet something deeper keeps calling, something like that “interior memory” Swedenborg describes, a place that holds peace even when the surface churns. I watch how urgency pushes us toward compulsive reactions or old fears, whispering that danger lurks everywhere, though our deeper self knows a very different story. That interior self lives with God. It remembers the truth Teresa of Avila captured so beautifully when she said, “All will be well in all manner of well.” And when we pause long enough to ask, “What am I without all this urgency,” something gentle starts to rise. Something steady. A quiet certainty that grows when we let a moment be still. From there, peace becomes the default, and urgency returns to its rightful place as the exception.
