Gifts and Freedom

What if heaven wasn’t just a destination, but something we could begin living now? Today I reflect on the freedom to become who God created us to be. In heaven, variety isn’t a flaw; it’s perfection. Every angel contributes a unique gift, and the more diverse the gifts, the more complete the harmony. I find that powerful. Swedenborg teaches that “the perfection of heaven comes from the variety of people there” (Heaven and Hell §56). And this isn’t abstract theology. This is about the way we nurture each other’s gifts, even the ones hidden from view. Especially in our children, we’re called to see what they can’t yet see in themselves. And that act? That sacred encouragement? It’s love made visible. It’s how we co-create heaven here. The blessings we share, the joys we cultivate in others, that’s real heavenly freedom. “All who are caught up in mutual love share their blessings and happiness with others out of a deep-seated desire to do so” (Heaven and Hell §399). Imagine a community like that. Then become it. That’s the invitation for today friends.
