Good vs. Right
5th, June 2026Description
As we head into the weekend, I want us to ask a simple, uncomfortable question: can we get centered on being good and not just being right? Swedenborg reminds us in Secrets of Heaven 3146 that “if faith is to take root, it must be paired with goodness.” That matters because “faith produces nothing without love.” Our need to be right can quietly build an echo chamber, first inside our own heads, then around us. Soon, connection gives way to argument, and ego starts wearing a religious costume. Love moves differently. It opens the hands. It creates a soft edge, a desire to serve, listen, and stay in relationship when disagreement shows up. So this weekend, when that old urge rises, the one that says, “I have to win this,” maybe we practice a little sacred “no.” Then we choose the good thing in front of us. Heaven grows there.
