Roll Your Sleeves Up

It is easy to imagine faith as a clean place apart from the mess of life, yet God calls us to roll up our sleeves and enter it with love. In Heaven and Hell, Swedenborg describes heaven through “deeds of thoughtfulness,” where deep care takes practical form at ground level. I find real joy grows when I shift my attention from what is happening to me to what God may be doing through me. We are vessels for God’s love and light, called to serve humbly, ask questions, soften our agenda, and notice the meaningful reciprocity that follows. This is how heaven comes closer to earth: through thoughtful actions, grateful hearts, and the beautiful connections God creates through us.
