The Soul of Things

Description

Life carries more than one level of meaning. In the Swedenborgian tradition, this is the gift of correspondences: the outward world, our thoughts, and even the literal words of Scripture can open toward a deeper spiritual reality. As Heaven and Hell teaches, “the inner meaning of the Word is its soul, and the literal meaning is its body.” Angels can inspire the better angels of our nature, and when we pause long enough to notice, we begin to sense that God is present here. A song, a memory, the face of someone we love, even an ordinary morning can reveal the deeper poetry of it all. So take a breath. Look with soft eyes. The soul of things is already there, and it is pretty darn beautiful.
