Finding a Quiet Dignity
15th, April 2025Description
This morning, I invite you into a space of quiet, peaceful dignity—a place where we can honestly face the self-destructive parts of ourselves and others with compassion, clarity, and accountability. Drawing from Swedenborg’s Secrets of Heaven §2447, we reflect on how Sodom and Gomorrah represent not cities, but the parts of us that separate truth from goodness and inevitably fall apart. True peace, the kind that heals, comes not from avoiding conflict but from approaching life with calm steadfastness—even when life gets messy. As I shared, “Accountability actually is the way to be charitable… the way to be loving,” because it honors truth while leaving room for mercy. We’re not aiming for perfection, just progress. And in that spirit, may we find strength in being still, and love in holding one another—gently—accountable.
