The Power of Patience
11th, August 2026Description
Patience invites us to slow down long enough for God to enter the places our urgency has crowded out. When I am impatient, my ego wants answers and progress right now, much like a child pressing a thumbprint into a model airplane before the paint can dry. Yet patience says, “I don’t know,” and, “In God’s time.” In Swedenborgian terms, humility opens a receptive space within us: as the self grows quieter, the Lord can flow in with new life, clearer sight, and a deeper ability to love the people around us. God desires humility, never humiliation. So when life makes us wait, I can simply say, “I’m just waiting,” and watch for what appears. “Those that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.” There is courage here, grace here, and a calm place where we can truly listen.
