What Is Servant Leadership?

Leadership matters in our families, communities, nation, and world. When we are called to lead, we can enter with humility, a willingness to serve, and a desire to make a real difference. Swedenborg describes heavenly leadership as “a heartfelt wishing better for others than for ourselves, serving others for the sake of their happiness with no thought of reward, simply out of love.” That is the heart of servant leadership. It moves beyond the urge to fix people or pursue accolades and invites us to lead in ways that create genuine good, trusting that God can accomplish something beautiful through us.
