What is the Only Thing We Can Take with Us?
21st, April 2026Description
We hear a lot about this simple, grounding truth: “you can’t take it with you” , and yet the real question presses in closer, more personal. What can we take? Drawing from Secrets of Heaven 3089, I reflect on how our journey begins in mixed motives, where even our desire for truth bends toward self, yet the Lord, in quiet mercy, “gradually purifies it” , reshaping us over time into people who genuinely want to give. And that is the turning point. “The only thing we get to take with us is what we have given” . Not possessions. Not status. A life that opens outward. A heart learning to serve, to share, to bless. We are, as I like to say, “angels in training” , imperfect, trying, growing, and God honors that effort, refining the smallest sparks of generosity into something eternal. So the question lingers in the best possible way: what are you going to give today? Because that quiet intention to love others, however small, that is the part that lives on. That is the part that goes with you into heaven.
